tried no ip

Postby EricZ28 » Wed May 20, 2009 5:57 pm

i tried the steps with no ip and am using the 2.0 gamma version. i still can't connect to the computer i'm trying to connect to. i'm trying to connect to the computer through my EVDO data connection on my phone, and am running windows mobile 6.1 on an HTC touch. as far as i know nothing is using port 3230 but on my phone i keep getting connection failed. how do i check the available ports for use on my computer? i'm connected to net through verison dsl. i tried the whatsmyipaddress.com thing and used the ip from that site to no avail. i've checked and rechecked the firewall settings and even created exceptions in the list, and when i couldn't connect to the comp i deleted the acceptions and still nothing. i know theres got to be a simple reason why this isn't working i just dont know what other paths to take.

These are things to check:
- Turn off firewall temporarily if you aren't sure you have allowed port 3230.
Try this site and see if it reports Success for port 3230.
http://www.canyouseeme.org/
You should try using Remote Touch on any port below 1024, as it is reserved.
If the port you use is already in use, Remote Touch 2.0 will complain ... 3230 is generally available.

- If you use router, then you need to enable port forwarding from the computer's local ip address.
There is a useful site which can help you with port forwarding for your specific router.
http://portforward.com/

There is also a known issue with Remote Touch on external connection:
http://t2remotetouch.blogspot.com/2008/ ... oesnt.html
(Although I think this isn't an issue if you use a direct IP address only if you used a DNS like no-ip).

Hello,
I am Joshua, one of Sanjay's software testers. You can also do what Sassyfemale did and go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/

Look at her last reply and see if all you need to do is update your ip address.

Let me know if this doesn't work for you and I will work with you to get T2 Remote Touch back to working for you.

Thanks.

-Joshua
